Softball Recap: Coventry Find Success

Coventry's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Moses Brown Quakers. The Oakers haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Mary Mcgovern was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Lapham, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Coventry now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Moses Brown, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Coventry will take on rival Prout at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Moses Brown is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Mary Academy-Bay View at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
