Basketball Recap: Bowie Takes a Loss

Bowie lost against Burkburnett back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bowie Jackrabbits were beaten by the Burkburnett Bulldogs 78-47. While losing is never fun, the Jackrabbits can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 125th).

When it comes to explaining why Bowie lost, don't look at Rayder Mann. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. Mann continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Salazar, who had six points.

Bowie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for Burkburnett, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Bowie didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-34 victory against Nocona on the 28th. Burkburnett has also already played their next contest, a 74-52 win against Boyd on the 28th.
