Football Recap: Avery County Takes a Loss

Avery County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 63-14 loss at the hands of the Mitchell Mountaineers. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-8.

Avery County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Mitchell, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Avery County is taking a road trip to square off against North Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mitchell, they will host Langtree Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
