Softball Recap: Corry's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Corry dropped their record down to 3-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jamestown Muskies. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Muskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Jamestown, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

For Jamestown's part, Miranda Biles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Biles has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Wingard, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corry will square off against Fairview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jamestown, they will challenge Fort LeBoeuf at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bison will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Muskies surely won't give up without a fight.
