Recap: Butler Bulldogs vs. Providence Panthers
The Butler Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Providence Panthers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Butler took down Providence 64-46. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Providence is ranked 498th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyler Showalter was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. DeQuadre Currence was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Butler and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Providence, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Butler will be home for the holidays to greet East Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Mecklenburg is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.9 points per game. As for Providence, they will head out on the road to face off against Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Porter Ridge is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
