Baseball Recap: Wimberley Takes Down Bridge City in a Playoff Battle

Wimberley extended their postseason success on Friday against Bridge City. They had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 7-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-1 on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Bryson Anderson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gentry McGinnis, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Wimberley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bridge City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 28-8-1.

As of now, neither Wimberley nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
