Softball Recap: Pisgah Has No Trouble Against Clarkdale

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pisgah had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Clarkdale Bulldogs with a sharp 12-6 victory. Considering the Dragons have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ally Young made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Young was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Alex Holeman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Maddi Byrd, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Pisgah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Pisgah has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Clarkdale, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pisgah beat the Bulldogs by a score of 8-6 on Saturday.
