Baseball Game Preview: Payson Lions vs. American Leadership Academy Eagles

The Payson Lions will square off against the American Leadership Academy Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Payson saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crimson Cliffs.

Payson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddux DeGraffenried, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Bosten Roseman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy didn't have quite enough to beat San Juan on Saturday and fell 8-7.

Daxen Stream made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

American Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Payson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Payson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like American Leadership Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Payson took their win against American Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. Will Payson repeat their success, or does American Leadership Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
