League recap: Bales powers Jefferson County with hot hitting week

AAA District 2 league recap: 5/14/12

Colton Bales was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .556 average, two home runs and eight RBIs. His Jefferson County team went 3-0.

Austin Hutchison was the best pitcher in the league this week. His stat line for the week included one win and nine Ks.

The Patriots' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories. Jefferson County has given up a mere 181 hits on the year in addition to compiling 268 strikeouts. Brandon Leonard is the leader in that category with 66 Ks on the season.

The Patriots hit six home runs this week and lead the league this season with 22 homers. Bales leads Jefferson County with a team-high 10 home runs this year.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Leonard, who turned in 10 Ks for the Patriots. With 66 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Jefferson County's Jake Farr led the league with six hits this week. His 57 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .487 batting average.

Austin Hutchison threw a shutout as he led Jefferson County to victory over Morristown-Hamblen West, 11-0, on Thursday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out 10, while giving up two hits.
