Baseball Recap: Washington's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Washington came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Jeannette Jayhawks 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Prexies have posted since May 1, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Patton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Patton wasn't the only one making solid contact: Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jeannette only managed six hits.

Washington's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Jeannette, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Washington will look to defend their home field on Monday against Monessen at 4:00 p.m. The Prexies are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Jeannette, they will take on Carmichaels at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
