Basketball Recap: Del Valle Comes Up Short

Del Valle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dripping Springs Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Despite the loss, Del Valle saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamya Tisdale dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Tisdale a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Abby Aguilar, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Rain Collins had a dynamite game for Dripping Springs, going 8 for 19 on her way to 27 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Abigail Robinson was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Del Valle's defeat dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Dripping Springs, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-20.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Westlake the next time they take the court. Del Valle will host Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Dripping Springs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
