Baseball Recap: St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Triumphs

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Finneytown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 8-7 on Saturday. This was payback for the Titans, who suffered a 17-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tony Stier made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Rack, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Creech, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Finneytown only posted a batting average of .267.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Finneytown, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

St. Bernard-Elmwood Place will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
