Volleyball Recap: Adriana Taylor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Albans over George Washington

St. Albans entered their game against George Washington on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red Dragons fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 10, 2023, but that streak is no more.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, St. Albans sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-14.

Several Red Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adriana Taylor, who had four digs, three blocks, and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Eary, who had six kills and five blocks.

Abby Johns was nothing short of spectacular for George Washington: she had eight aces and seven digs. The dominant performance also gave Johns a new career-high in assists (two).

St. Albans suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 11-6. As for George Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6-1 record this season.

St. Albans wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Ripley on the 18th. As for George Washington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Wyoming East on the 18th.
