The Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles will challenge the Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Sheets Memorial Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Shining Light Academy on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-6 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Jack Holland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Holland was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zack Damba was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Charlie Matthews, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sheets Memorial Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Lee Park Prep 13-4. Considering the Patriots have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Sheets Memorial Christian, Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Keegan Spach. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Spach is becoming a predictor of Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Spach was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Ben Pickard was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Cade Sears was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Sheets Memorial Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Sheets Memorial Christian skirted past Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy 7-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
