Basketball Recap: Brookside Takes a Loss

Brookside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Keystone Wildcats, falling 61-19. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Wildcats are ranked 75th).

Keystone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madyson Sokolowski led the charge by going 7 of 15 en route to 19 points along with five boards and four steals. Sokolowski's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Cassell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Brookside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Keystone, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Brookside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-26 win against Clearview on the 7th. As for Keystone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-13 victory against Black River on the 7th.
