Baseball Recap: Atrisco Heritage Academy Find Success

Atrisco Heritage Academy won the last time they faced West Mesa and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Jaguars came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Jedidiah Montano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Atrisco Heritage Academy is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-11 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ignacio Quintana, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Quintana wasn't the only one making solid contact: Atrisco Heritage Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Jaguars are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Atrisco Heritage Academy's record now sits at 5-12. As for West Mesa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atrisco Heritage Academy will head out to square off against Rio Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Mesa, they will venture away from home to take on Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Bulldogs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
