Baseball Recap: West Michigan Christian Extends Winning Streak to Eight

West Michigan Christian waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Zeeland West Dux. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since April 19th.

Andrew Stafford made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four contests. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Caden Harris was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

West Michigan Christian pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Zeeland West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.

West Michigan Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dux: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
