Recap: Brandeis Broncos vs. Marshall Rams

The Brandeis Broncos can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They secured a 73-68 W over Marshall. Given Brandeis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Marshall is ranked 864th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brandeis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trevor Short, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Philyaw, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Marshall's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aric Goodman, who scored 19 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds, and Jason Vidaurri who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vidaurri has scored all season. Aj Torres was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Brandeis' win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Marshall, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Brandeis will square off against Lee at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Brandeis likes a good challenge. As for Marshall, they will be playing at home against Clark at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
