Softball Recap: Springs Valley Blackhawks vs. Paoli Rams

There's no place like home for Springs Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Paoli Rams on Thursday as the Springs Valley Blackhawks made off with an 11-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Springs Valley also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Lily Hickman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hickman has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Hickman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Maci Eckerty was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double. Karson Dalton was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Springs Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Paoli, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.

Springs Valley will head out on the road to challenge West Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. West Washington will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Springs Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paoli, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lanesville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Paoli has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
