Strasburg takes loss despite strong efforts from Peighton Marrero and Natalie Damron

Recap: Strasburg Indians vs. Highland Huskies

After flying high against the Rocky Ford Meloneers last Saturday, the Strasburg Indians came back down to earth. Strasburg fell to Highland 57-51. Strasburg has struggled against Highland recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Strasburg's loss came despite strong showings from Natalie Damron and Peighton Marrero. Damron dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Marrero scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Marrero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katherine Seligmann, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.

Highland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briza Flores led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Bingley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Strasburg has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strasburg will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Valley at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Highland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty Common at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
