Volleyball Game Preview: Norton Lancers vs. Norwood Mustangs

The Norton Lancers will face off against the Norwood Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Norton has five straight victories, Norwood has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Norton had won two straight road games and Alex George did his part to make it three on Friday. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Hopkinton for which the team can thank George, who had 17 digs. He has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times he's played.

Norton walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The final score came out to 25-22, 25-13, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Norwood came up short against Nipmuc Regional on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Norwood was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Nipmuc Regional's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-20.

Norton's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Norwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Norton beat Norwood 3-1 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
