Troy hasn't had much luck against South Williamsport recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Canton on Monday. Considering the Trojans have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Joseph Frye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Brendan Gilliland and Mason Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Gilliland scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Smith scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, Smith posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Chimics, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, South Williamsport was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell just short of North Schuylkill by a score of 4-2.
South Williamsport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rem Minier, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Troy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for South Williamsport, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
