Charlotte Christian is a perfect 6-0 against Charlotte Catholic since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Charlotte Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Lexington on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Wildcats since March 11, 2022.

Wade Thompson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Darling, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Witt McCammon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charlotte Catholic). They never let Independence get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Ben Bordeaux looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Charlotte Catholic got a massive performance out of Cooper Gornet, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt McKnight, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Charlotte Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence struck out nine times.

Charlotte Christian pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.2 runs across that stretch. As for Charlotte Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Charlotte Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Charlotte Christian skirted past Charlotte Catholic 3-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Charlotte Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
