Jefferson Independent Day's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabbi Hiebert, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Hiebert hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Lannah Grigg was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Verona pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Exeter.
Jefferson Independent Day's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Verona, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Jefferson Independent Day strolled past Verona in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 61-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson Independent Day since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
