Basketball Game Preview: Crestwood Red Devils vs. Wickliffe Blue Devils

The Crestwood Red Devils will head out to face off against the Wickliffe Blue Devils at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Crestwood is headed into Wednesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 52-40 to Rootstown, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Rovers are ranked 80th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Hannah Ward, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Abby Guyette, who had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Crestwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Wickliffe came up short against South on Monday and fell 38-29. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Crestwood's record now sits at 7-4. As for Wickliffe, their record now sits at 6-5.

Crestwood came up short against Wickliffe in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 35-27. Can Crestwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
