Basketball Recap: Lewis-Palmer Falls Despite Big Games from Jonas Miller and Devin Vandermeer

Lewis-Palmer had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it five. They lost to the Regis Jesuit Raiders at home by a 84-67 margin. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 77-52 to the Raiders when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Devin VanderMeer and Jonas Miller certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. VanderMeer went 7-for-12 en route to 19 points, while Miller shot 43% from the field on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Mindrup, who posted six points.

As for Regis Jesuit, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 73.5 points this season.

Eric Fiedler was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 34 points and 12 boards. The matchup was his tenth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Haubert, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 13 points and eight assists.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lewis-Palmer will square off against Thompson Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Regis Jesuit, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Smoky Hill at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
