Volleyball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends South Range's Winning Streak

After a string of five wins, South Range's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While South Range ultimately came up short, they really made Canton Central Catholic work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 21-25, 27-25, 25-17.

Despite the defeat, South Range had strong showings from Ali Irons, who had ten digs and two aces, and Anna Toy, who had 25 digs, 19 kills, and two aces. Toy is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season.

South Range's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Canton Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

South Range has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against McKinley on the 2nd. As for Canton Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Villa Angela-St. Joseph on the 2nd.
