Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Cowboys vs. Strathmore Spartans

The Riverdale Cowboys are taking a road trip to face off against the Strathmore Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Riverdale was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-30 to Fowler. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Strathmore). They breezed by Orange Cove to the tune of 72-13 on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Strathmore has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Riverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Riverdale was dealt a bruising 68-22 defeat at the hands of Strathmore in their previous meeting back in November of 2017. Thankfully for Riverdale, Jazmine Soto (who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 12 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
