Baseball Game Preview: Tanque Verde Hawks vs. Cholla Chargers

The Tanque Verde Hawks will take on the Cholla Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Tanque Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Tanque Verde made easy work of Palo Verde and carried off a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.

Santino Celani made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Celani was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Payne, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Douglas hit Cholla with a five-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 11-1 to the Bulldogs.

Cholla saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cesar Valencia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Cholla has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-7-1 record this season. As for Tanque Verde, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5-2.
