Escondido Charter entered their tilt with Coastal Academy on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Stingrays by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Escondido Charter had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-12, 25-6, 25-22.

OLIVE JOHNSON paced Escondido Charter's offense, picking up 12 kills. JOHNSON got some help from CLARISSA GOSS and her 24 assists. AUDREY CAHILL controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Despite the defeat, Coastal Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lily Dear had three digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Dear.

Escondido Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Coastal Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Escondido Charter will be taking part in a tournament against Mission Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Coastal Academy, they will challenge Hoover at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
