Baseball Recap: Fitchburg Takes a Loss

Fitchburg extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered against the Bernardians since May 22, 2018.

As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 3-4. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For St. Bernard's Central Catholic's part, Angelo Barry and Justin Little did most of the damage at the plate: Barry went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Little went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Little is becoming a predictor of the Bernardians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Ethan Lewis was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Coming up, Fitchburg will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Groton-Dunstable at 1:00 p.m. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they are taking a road trip to challenge Gardner at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
