Baseball Recap: West Monroe Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

West Monroe's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ouachita Christian Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The Rebels have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

West Monroe got a great performance from Bradyn Cupit as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Cupit has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Carr, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. Another player making a difference was Drew Anderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

West Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

West Monroe's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ouachita Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Looking ahead, West Monroe will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Ouachita Parish at 1:00 p.m. Ouachita Parish has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something West Monroe will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ouachita Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Cedar Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Creek will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Ouachita Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
