AAA District 16 recap September 24, 2013
Whitehaven added to the longest winning streak in AAA District 16 this week by beating Melrose, 52-6. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.
Memphis Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 115 from 155 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Memphis East 22-16.
White Station's Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Eldridge Thompson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson Jr. has thrown for 363 yards this season, while Thompson, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 8 catches for 86 yards. The Mustangs' DeVante Turner leads the league in rushing yards with 271.
Memphis Central and Memphis East played the closest game in AAA District 16 this week, with Memphis Central eventually emerging with a 22-16 victory.
