Basketball Recap: Williams Falls Despite Big Games from Jaeden Smith and Colby Elliot

Williams lost a heartbreaker to Eastern Alamance when they met back in January, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Williams Bulldogs lost 80-59 to the Eastern Alamance Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Colby Elliot and Jaeden Smith certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Elliot posted 16 points, while Smith had 12 points. The contest was Elliot's fourth in a row with at least 16 points.

Eastern Alamance's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Murphy, who went 6-for-10 en route to 13 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Williams, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Williams' loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Eastern Alamance, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastern Alamance, they are taking a road trip to square off against Person at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Person will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Eastern Alamance surely won't give up without a fight.
