Basketball Recap: Raleigh Charter Phoenix vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians

Raleigh Charter won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 59-21 loss at the hands of the Wake Prep Academy Guardians. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Guardians are ranked 203rd).

Despite the loss, Raleigh Charter still got an impressive performance from Connor Morton, who posted 16 points.

Leading Wake Prep Academy to victory were Myles Petersen and Josh Bracey. Petersen almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Bracey went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points along with six boards and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Petersen a new career-high in blocks (two). Shawn Amadike was another key player, putting up nine points.

Raleigh Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Wake Prep Academy, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Raleigh Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-35 loss against NCSSM: Durham on the 28th. Wake Prep Academy has also already played their next game, a 60-26 win against East Wake Academy on the 27th.
