Preview: Berrien Rebels vs. Lowndes Vikings
Berrien is 0-8 against Lowndes since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Berrien Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Lowndes Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Berrien will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Lowndes is ranked tenth).
On Friday, Berrien ended up a good deal behind Atkinson County and lost 62-43.
Meanwhile, Lowndes put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Brunswick with points to spare, taking the game 50-36. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Lowndes has scored all year.
Lowndes found their leader in underclassman Kayla Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Jackson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaci Demps, who scored 12 points.
Berrien's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Lowndes, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Berrien was taken down by Lowndes 77-14 when the teams last played back in November. Can Berrien avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
