Basketball Recap: Morgantown's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

On Friday, Morgantown faced Parkersburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Morgantown Mohigans walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Parkersburg Big Reds. Winning may never get old, but the Mohigans sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morgantown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayli Kellogg, who went 6-for-13 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Kellogg's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Sadaya Jones, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

Morgantown was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkersburg only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Parkersburg saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Frances Guice dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Flanagan was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Morgantown's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Parkersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Morgantown has already played their next match, a 63-50 victory against Steubenville on the 8th. As for Parkersburg, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-51 win against Riverside on the 12th.
