Softball Recap: Hollister Finds Home Field Redemption Against Watsonville

There's no place like home for Hollister, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Watsonville Wildcatz on Wednesday. The Haybalers haven't had any issues with the Wildcatz recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Grace Peffley and Aleah Ruiz did most of the damage at the plate: Peffley got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Ruiz went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave Ruiz a new career-high. Ashlee Io was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Hollister's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Watsonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Looking ahead, Hollister will be playing in front of their home fans against Palma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games the Chieftains have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Watsonville, they will face off against Salinas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
