Basketball Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

Gateway lost against Greater Latrobe back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gateway Gators took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greater Latrobe Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Wildcats are ranked 43rd).

Gateway has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Greater Latrobe, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Gateway will host Laurel Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three games. Greater Latrobe has already played their next contest (against Uniontown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
