Volleyball Game Preview: Belleville West Maroons vs. Edwardsville Tigers

Belleville West is 2-8 against Edwardsville since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Maroons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Belleville West was able to grind out a solid win over Althoff Catholic, taking the game 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Maroons.

Belleville West easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Edwardsville entered their tilt with Alton on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Redbirds.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Edwardsville got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-15, 19-25, 25-9.

Edwardsville found their leader in sophomore Jude Lawrence, who had 17 assists and four digs.

Belleville West's victory bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Edwardsville, their win bumped their record up to 21-11.
