Basketball Game Preview: Haynes Academy vs. Morris Jeff Pelicans

Haynes Academy will head out to square off against the Morris Jeff Pelicans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Haynes Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They slipped by Episcopal of Acadiana 54-53.

Meanwhile, Morris Jeff strolled past Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-32.

Haynes Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Morris Jeff, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.

Haynes Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Morris Jeff in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 50-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Haynes Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
