Basketball Game Preview: Leadership Academy Falcons vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains

Leadership Academy is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Bishop McGuinness is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Leadership Academy Falcons will host the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Leadership Academy will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Carver, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Leadership Academy snuck past Carver with a 73-69 victory on Wednesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leadership Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Foster, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Foster has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Ryker, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 24 points and three steals.

Leadership Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carver only racked up 15 assists.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Bishop McGuinness against Triad Math and Science Academy on Tuesday as the team secured a 59-17 win. The Villains have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season.

Bishop McGuinness' victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Leadership Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.

Leadership Academy took a serious blow against Bishop McGuinness when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 83-48. Can Leadership Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
