While Cathedral Catholic ultimately came up short, they really made Francis Parker work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 29-27.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rancho Bernardo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Escondido on Friday. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Rancho Bernardo was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-9, 25-11.

Cathedral Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Rancho Bernardo, their win bumped their record up to 9-18.
