Softball Recap: Flathead Has No Trouble Against Great Falls

Flathead lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Great Falls, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Braves put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 19-3 win on Tuesday. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Braves this season.

Macey McIlhargey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Nyman, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Tegan Strauss was another key player, going 3-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Flathead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Flathead's record now sits at 6-12. As for Great Falls, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Flathead will venture away from home to face off against Hellgate at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Great Falls, they will head out on the road to take on Russell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rustlers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
