Soccer Game Preview: Vance County vs. Carrboro

Vance County is 0-6 against Carrboro since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vipers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vance County was handed a three-goal loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Louisburg 2-1.

Nicola Thompson and Solana Gardner scored both of Vance County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, Carrboro put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Durham School of the Arts a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Carrboro, who have now won seven contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Carrboro's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Vance County, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-2.

Vance County suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Carrboro in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Vipers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
