Volleyball Recap: Eureka Comes Up Short

Eureka lost against Humboldt back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tornadoes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cubs.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-20.

Eureka's offense was headlined by Madelyn Miller and Arabella Shepherd, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Alaina Westerman and her four assists.

Skylar Hottenstein was nothing short of spectacular for Humboldt: she had 21 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Hottenstein has posted over her last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Bailey Daniels, who had five assists and three aces.

Eureka dropped their record down to 13-18 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Humboldt, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-9.

Coincidentally, Eureka and Humboldt will both be playing Cherryvale the next time they take the court. The Tornadoes will host the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cubs will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
