Basketball Game Preview: Roncalli Royals vs. New Palestine Dragons

The Roncalli Royals will challenge the New Palestine Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roncalli has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three matches.

Roncalli will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Franklin Community, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Roncalli snuck past Franklin Community with a 59-55 victory on Thursday.

Meanwhile, New Palestine unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 75-38 loss at the hands of Pendleton Heights. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Arabians are ranked 31st).

Roncalli is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for New Palestine, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Roncalli beat New Palestine 60-53 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was New Palestine's Isabella Gizzi, who went 10 of 23 en route to 34 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.
