Softball Recap: Northeast Nodaway Blue Jays vs. North Andrew Cardinals

Northeast Nodaway took care of business in their home opener on Monday (and then some). They blew past the North Andrew Cardinals 9-1. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Jays, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hadley Defreece spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Lindsey Jackson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and a triple. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Pride, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Northeast Nodaway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Andrew only posted a batting average of .160.

North Andrew dropped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast Nodaway will challenge DeKalb at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Andrew, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stanberry at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
