Baseball Recap: Lena-Winslow Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Lena-Winslow won against Durand/Pecatonica on Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Winnebago Indians a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Luke Madigan, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Winnebago off the board. Madigan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miles Mahon was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Cohen Weegens, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lena-Winslow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Lena-Winslow pushed their record up to 18-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Winnebago, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season.

Lena-Winslow will take on Warren/Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winnebago, they will challenge Rockford Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Royal Lions will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight.
