Basketball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Eldorado last Monday, Fairfield came back down to earth. The Fairfield Mules were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 53-52 to the Hamilton County Foxes. The Mules were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Foxes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Rayci Phelps was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 15 en route to 25 points and six rebounds for Hamilton County. Phelps' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kylah Parkhill was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Hamilton County, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-10.

Fairfield will take on Benton at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton County, they will square off against Steeleville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
